Oh the humanity!

This really needs no comment.

BTW: This is not an attack on the band, great name for a band.

Noun, Verb, POW

Are you as sick of this rhetoric as I am?  It’s like the old Bush speech’s of Noun, Noun, 911.  Or Rudy’s 911, Verb, 911.   And now to add to that we have Lieberman’s  Noun, Verb, FlipFlop, Michael Moore.

Time to get this old POW out to pasture.  My first Father in law was a POW and all the years I knew him he never wanted to discuss it, maybe it was worse under the Nazis.  But he never mentioned it to anybody.

John McCain has been exploiting his prisoner of war experience every chance he gets. He has used this story to justify everything from not knowing how many homes he has to his healthcare plan to his marital infidelities to his taste in music. The McCain campaign is even using his POW story in paid ads. But now a veteran who was a prisoner with McCain in Vietnam is explaining loud and clear that being a POW does not qualify McCain to lead our country.

We are sure this video will draw an onslaught of right-wing attacks, but we bring it to you because it is our job to continue to convey the truth together and give these issues national attention. As Dr. Butler has said, McCain does not have the temperament to have his finger near the red button. Get this video to everyone you know—friends, family members, coworkers, and especially those who don’t share your political views. The video is designed to reach them. Get it on your social networking sites like Digg. And get it to every blog, newspaper, and TV station that has ever overplayed McCain’s POW story. It is time to fight back with truth!

The mainstream press has already begun to call out McCain for overusing his POW story. And it’s cut across all political persuasions. * “Whether he’s deflecting criticism over his health-care plan or mocking a tribute to the Woodstock music festival, Senator John McCain has a trump card: the Hanoi Hilton. — Edwin Chen, Bloomberg * “Noun, Verb, POW” — Andrew Sullivan, The Atlantic Monthly * “The McCain campaign’s constant invocation of the candidate’s POW past is weird bordering on irrational…” — Ana Marie Cox, TIME * “I think they are going to it way too many times.” — Howard Fineman, Newsweek

What is going on here?

This is America.

We don’t jail journalists here.

Jailing journalists is unacceptable in a democracy.
But that’s exactly what is happening at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn.
Award winning journalist and host of “Democracy Now” Amy Goodman was arrested by St. Paul police while covering a protest outside the Republican National Convention.
Though clearly identified as press, Goodman was charged with “obstruction of a legal process and interference with a ‘peace officer.'”
Two of her producers were arrested for “suspicion of felony riot.”
This video is upsetting, but you deserve to know what’s really going on.
Goodman and her producers were released last night. (An AP photographer was also arrested and released). But the charges are still pending.
This story has been virtually ignored by the mainstream press.
The cable channels are providing extensive coverage of events related to the Republican National Convention, but there has been a virtual news blackout on the arrest of Amy Goodman and the Democracy Now team.
Americans deserve to know that journalists are being jailed for trying to do their jobs.
E-mail CNN President Jonathan Klein and NBC News President Steve Capus today (NBC News controls MSNBC) to demand coverage of this brutally important story.

I’m curious, is this the democratic mayor being over zealous in his attempt to be protective of the Republicans in a Democratic city, or have the GOP insisted on stronger protection for them against protesters?

oops I did it again

oops I did it again

This is the right way to respond to the McCain swiftboat ads.  Don’t sit back and take it like John Kerry did, but get right up in his face.  After all they (Republicans) invented the swift boat ads so this must be the only thing they understand.

John McCain was at the bottom of his military class at Annapolis, but still got to pilot a fighter plan due to his father’s connections. He is the son and the grandson of admirals. He finished 894 of 899 in his graduating class. Despite crashing five aircraft, John McCain was never disciplined. And son-of-single-mother Obama is, of course, the privileged elitist.    [Popbitch]

Yes, we now have the right stuff for President and VP.  As I predicted back on June 4th it is Joe Biden for VP.
I really like the choice, I have a lot of respect for Joe Biden.  In my humble opinion he is too intelligent to be a politician, so it will be a good pairing.
The good news is that John McCain does not have any brothers who are state governors which will help us in having a fair and above board election. So hopefully without having hanging chads and Supreme Court intervention come January we will finally end the fiasco of the Bush years.  America will once again gain respect in the world.
Too many of my friends around the world have told me of their countries disdain for the USA during the past eight years.
Plus of course life will be better for us again, if we can climb out from the mountain of debt dear Dubyah buried us under.
So I urge all Americans to get out and convince the naysayers of their folly and most important, come November, VOTE.
One last thought, wouldn’t it be something if McCain could stop the mud slinging and attempt to show reasons why he should be elected (if there are any).  And please Barack, do not stoop to his level.
It will be refreshing to have some-one we can vote for, rather than just voting against the other candidate.
Welcome Joe, now let’s get out and get it done.

But unfortunately he is still here, until January 2011. Last night, news broke that Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger will sign an Executive Order on Monday slashing the wages of over 200,000 state employees to the bare minimum.
Not California’s minimum wage of $8 per hour. The federal minimum wage of $6.55. Six dollars and fifty-five cents an hour.
To add insult to injury, the Governor is slashing workers’ wages instead of taking leadership to close the “Yacht Tax” loophole.
Man of the people, yeah right.

If this annoys you a bit, then go sign this petition to stop Arnold.

BTW I am NOT a State employee, so it’s nothing personal here.

Here’s some additional information on the Yacht Tax fiasco.

This sounds like a dream, doesn’t it? Well, it’s not. We have a unique opportunity right now to send Karl Rove to jail, but only if we take immediate action.
All we have to do is pressure the 40 members of the House Judiciary Committee, make them hold Rove in contempt and send him to jail. We’ve never had such a direct opportunity to hold Rove accountable. No, this is not enough punishment for his years and years of crimes, but it’s a huge start, and will send a very clear message to the entire Bush administration.
The specific issue regarding Rove’s failure to testify before Congress is a little complicated, so they put together this video that explains exactly why Rove should be held in contempt and sent to jail. Check out Send Karl Rove to Jail, and sign their petition to ensure that the HJC holds Rove in contempt.
