Check out Donovan picking up a few pointers from the master. They got together in 1965. But it was clear who was the master and who was the pupil. Both clips are from No Direction Home, the Martin Scorsese directed movie. The movie is a chronicle of Bob Dylan’s strange evolution between 1961 and 1966 from folk singer to protest singer to “voice of a generation” to rock star. And he was great in every stage, still is. It is featured at the PBS American Masters site.
The film was first shown on television in both the United States (as part of the PBS American Masters series) and the United Kingdom (as part of the BBC Two Arena series) on September 26–27 2005. A DVD version of the film and accompanying soundtrack album (The Bootleg Series Vol. 7: No Direction Home: The Soundtrack) were released that same month. If you don’t have them, why?
