This is pretty cool.  Glad there was no compound interest, that could have been sticky.

This parking ticket, issued in 1954, has been paid in full. An anonymous man found the unpaid citation among his mother’s belongings while cleaning out her home. It appears the woman lived in Oklahoma and was visiting York at the time the ticket was issued in downtown York. The woman’s son decided it was time to make good on the 57-year-old debt, leaving the ticket and payment at the local police department.    News-Times / Melanie Wilkinson

….except that it’s not. Not on the US networks. Could they be worried about advertising revenue? You have to read some of the media elsewhere in the world to catch up on Occupy Wall Street.

You have to scroll through sites like Flickr to get to see the photo’s.

I wonder what they are arresting them for?

“Who should we arrest next?”
Great photographs by Eric McGregor.

And of course if you can’t arrest them, you can always mace them.
Not really sure why they did that? Maybe just to show they could?

Things get more than heated. Seems like over the top reaction to a peaceful demonstration by the NYPD.

Family Problem

My daughter just walked into the living room and said “Dad, cancel my allowance immediately, rent my room out, throw all my clothes out of the window, take my TV, and stereo, and iPhone, and iPod, and my laptop.
Please take all of my jewelry to the Salvation Army or Cash Converters. Then sell my new car, take my front door key away from me and throw me out of the house.” Then disown me and never talk to me again. And don’t forget to write me out of your will and leave my share to my brother.
Well, she didn’t put it quite like that… she actually said… “Dad I have decided to work for the Rick Perry election campaign.”

But sadly some of the council members don’t. Let’s get real, banning happy meals is not going to cure anything.
Any nutritional value in fast food is purely coincidental. But the taste is the thing.
See Jon Stewart’s great take on this.

You cannot let this happen.    They are one and the same.

Glenn Beck vs Di’ney

I’m sure Glenn will be crying again soon.  That’s if he isn’t already.

What happened when Donald Duck listened to Glenn Beck?

Did his head explode?   I know mine does that’s why I gave up on it.

But in reality hilarity ensued.

But Ohh no!  Mickey Mouse Discovers The Government Plan to Attack Glenn Beck by Paying Jonathan McIntosh to Remix Cartoons.   Heavens to Murgatroyd, is there no end to the dishonesty in this election year!!!

Thanks to Rebellious pixels and ikat381 for the great work.

Ninety years ago this August, women finally won the right to vote when the 19th Amendment was ratified in 1920. But instead of taking that right seriously, Meg Whitman has rarely voted for three decades. She wants to be our next governor — but shouldn’t she show more respect for the struggles that earned women the right to vote?

That’s why the Courage Campaign is teaming up with the California Nurses Association to send a message to Meg Whitman about the voting rights she took for granted. On Thursday, August 26, nurses and activists from across California will travel to Sacramento for a rally celebrating women’s right to vote. Many will take a train to Sacramento, honoring the suffragist movement and their success, and dressing in costumes from the suffragist era.

Even if you can’t join the rally, you can still help us send a message to Meg Whitman on the 90th anniversary of the 19th Amendment. If you would like to be registered to Vote By Mail — the most reliable way to vote every election — please fill out the following form and the Courage Campaign will mail you a Vote-By-Mail application ASAP. Once you receive it, just fill it out and mail it in to your county registrar!
